Fed-up
Don't insult 8 year olds
a few old timers on here often refer to the dumbing down of the jw organisation.
what examples can you think of from over the years?
(i ask as an interested outsider who was never in).
Fed-up
Don't insult 8 year olds
so, folks, 60 years ago, starting on september 1st, i believe, we, local witnesses in southern california, had the "privilege" of attending the "around the world assembly", at, of all places, the rose bowl, in pasadena.
(i think that it was an 8-day assembly) i was 9 years old then, almost ready to start 4th grade.
so, was anyone else, on this site, at that assembly?

The experiences of helping each other can be found every where decent humans congregate. If anything, witnesses are more selfish than the norm. " best conventuon ever": I got to cut branches and help set up a tent. No memories of "light" but that experience sticks with us.
The indifference shows. No announcement about it, no wonderment among the webelows. It will be th e same clowns plus the new additions
so my mother passed on 20 aug 23 from the big c. i was there when she went.
that was indeed very traumatic.
i won't go to describe it.. dad went 17 years ago so there's just me now.
Condolences
Thanks for ideas when I have to deal with this.
if you don't measure up to the watchtower society ''high standards''... you might lose some ''special privileges'' .
miss meetings...lose ''privileges''.
don't meet the monthly 10 hour ''field service'' ...lose ''privileges''.

Grew beard, got " counciled" (word for word WT article) by a lone elder. No more training on how to read. The lone elder never followed with a second one. He did ask how I would feel about no more stage parts. Answer: hooray!.
jw view gambling as a sin and sadly people get addicted to gambling causing them financial and health problems.
but is playing a couple of bucks a week on some lottery tickets actually gambling?
what do you have to lose?
Well I was only 6 numbers of 7 wrong this time. Almost always you see the small winners buy more tickets.
Locally 1 million (especially after taxes) will buy a decent (not mansion) home, with enough left for a new car, but not Rolls, corvette, or such
If penny ante poker is on the personal conscience list, how about strip poker?🙂

Lotto is for the mathematically challenged. That said I do dabble on the off chance i hit.
The elders will DF you. It has to do with greed, the payout is not penny ante. The WT should look in a mirror regarding greed.

Send out orders to destroy records, then claim they find no records.

It should be noted that all bibles are rewritten when translated. JWs started with the King James and proved some basic tenets. Adding Jehovah was probably mostly correct.
Adding details and application is where all religions go wrong. As I already posted, the Golden Rule is a good standard, James has the better take on applying it
Humanity at it's best can be found and quoted in select places whether Bible, Koran, Mark twain, will rogers. The worst can also be found; meanness, lust, pettiness, selfishness etc.
Witnesses fall very short on actual love which is their claim of Christianity
